The National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) held its Black Women in STEM Brunch Saturday, March 4, 2017. The event, sponsored by Stanley Black & Decker, was created to encourage and inspire women of color to continue to pursue degrees in the STEM fields.

Keynote speaker Marja Hurley, M.D. from the University of Connecticut Health Center addressed the crowd of more than 60 women. The event served to commemorate and acknowledge women of color who were trailblazers in the STEM fields for Black History Month and Women’s History Month. It also helped to address the need for more black women in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
