The Freshman Leadership Initiative, commonly known as NSBE-FLI was created to provide an opportunity to incoming freshmen to develop themselves as leaders here on UConn’s Campus. The 2016-2017 Executive Board realized that there is a serious lack of leadership development among first-year students. The board acknowledge the fact that when first year students continue their college career many of them go on to hold leadership positions on campus. When holding these leadership positions many of them are not equipped with the knowledge or skills to adequately and effectively do those positions. With this initiative our main focus is to reduce this by giving freshmen leadership opportunities and holding them accountable of running their own events.
