The University of Connecticut Chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers serves as a support group not only to black engineering students, but to any student who is determined to excel academically, succeed professionally, and positively impact the community at the University of Connecticut. Our organization has been serving the University of Connecticut and communities around the State of Connecticut since 1981, and continues to progress and grow through the increase in chapter membership and members who go on to pursue professional careers.
The UConn School of Engineering has approximately 2750 undergraduate students. Of those undergraduates, approximately 6% of these students are Black/African American engineering undergraduates. With that being said, around 40% of the Black/African American engineering undergraduates are involved in the UConn NSBE Chapter.
